Homemade Applesauce

Okay everyone, I have a super easy recipe for you today!

We like to eat a lot of fruit {well I do, Chris is more of a veggie guy}, but the selection in the winter is usually pretty terrible. What I mostly eat in the winter are apples. We normally buy a bag of apples a week and usually eat all of them. But some weeks are not so good. One weekend we had a lot of leftover apples. I knew that they would be too soft for the next week {I like a nice, crunchy apple}, but I didn't want to waste them. What could I do with lots of apples... pie?... no, not much of a fan... ah ha!... Homemade Applesauce!!

I did a quick google search and found Sarah's Applesauce Recipe on With a minor tweak, I had the perfect solution to leftover apples!

What you need:

  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Peel, core, and chop apples.

In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook covered over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft.

Allow apples to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.

Really, it is that simple!

Nothing better than simple and easy. Enjoy!
