Crochet Boot Cuffs

Now that the cold weather is here I've been itching to crochet! This happens to me every winter, what about you?

I've been seeing lots of cute boot cuffs online and knew I wanted to crochet some for myself. I found this tutorial from Moogly for a diamond cowl. I loved the pattern and knew it would make a perfect boot cuff! Here is what I did:

What you need:

  • Yarn {worsted weight 4}
  • Hook {size H}
  • Scissors
  • Needle to weave in ends
Abbreviations
  • CH- chain
  • ST- stitch
  • SC- single crochet
  • DC- double crochet
  • SL ST- slip stitch
  • FPTRC2TOG - front post treble crochet two together {Moogly shared a great video on how to do this stitch}
  • FPTRC - front post treble crochet

1. CH 7

2. SC in the second CH from the hook. Repeat until you reach the end. CH 1, turn

3. SC in every ST until you reach the end. CH 1, turn.

4. Repeat step 3 until you get the desired cuff length.

5. To connect the ends of the cuff slip stitch them together. Then flip the cuff inside out to hide the seam.

6. CH 1, two SC in every loop and SL ST to end of round. Join with SL ST.

7. CH 3, DC in every SC to en dof round. Join with SL ST. {CH 3 counts as DC}

8. CH1, SC in first 3 STs. FPTRC2TOG over next ST: working first FPTRC around the 2nd SC in row 1 until 2 loops left on hook, skip 3 SC on row 1 and work second FPTRC around 6th SC until 3 loops left on hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops. *SC in next 3 STs. FPTRC2TOG, working first FPTRC around the base of the last FPTRC, skip 3 SC and work second FPTRC around next SC.* Repeat from * to * end, join with SL ST to the first ST of the row.

9: CH 3, DC in next ST and each ST to end of round. Join with SL ST.
10: CH 1, SC in 1st ST. FPTRC2TOG, going around the tops of the FPTRC2TOG of row 3 (where you “joined” the last 3 loops on the hook), creating diamond shapes. Do this by sliding the hook from right to left all the way under both of the post stitches, staying on top of the background fabric. *SC in next 3 STs, then FPTRC2TOG* to last 2 STs. SC in last 2 STs, then join with SL ST.
11: CH 3, DC in next ST and each ST to end of round. Join with SL ST.
12: Repeat Step 8, except go around the FPTRC2TOG tops.
13. Repeat until you get the desired length for your cuff
14: CH 1, SC in every other ST. Join with SL ST. Weave in ends.

I really love how my boot cuffs came out! And I really have to thank Moogly for the great tutorial. : )
