DIY Circle Art

Happy Wednesday everyone! Recently I've been trying to add more decor to our apartment. A while back, I pinned this from According to L. It's a modern circle art, DIY type decor. I thought something like this would be a perfect art addition to our bedroom.  Here is what I did:

What you need:

  • Canvas
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paint/Paint Brush
  • Eraser

First start by making a grid. My canvas was a 8x10 inch canvas so I made my lines 1 inch apart. I did both vertical and horizontal lines which resulted in lots of 1 inch squares. {Make sure you only use a pencil!}

Next since my canvas was 8x10 I wanted 2 inch circles to keep everything even. {This is why I made 1 inch lines. If you want 4 inch circles then make 2 inch lines. I hope this makes sense.}

I started at the very top 1 inch line and traced half circles. Then I went to the next row and shifted my circles over and traced to create the pattern shown here. I continued this for the whole canvas.

Once my circles were drawn I moved on to painting. Our bedroom is full of blues and grays, so those are the colors I stuck with. I also filled in all the little "flower petals" but According to L only painted some of hers. Do what ever feels and looks right to you!

Once all the "flower petals" were painted I let them dry over night. After I was certain my canvas was dry I erased all the pencil marks.

I love how it turned out!

This project really has endless possibilities, so have fun with it! If you have already made anything similar I'd love to see it! : )
