Pom Pom Garland

Happy Tuesday everyone! Christmas is almost here and I have a few holiday decor tutorials for you all. First up is a pom pom garland. I love the look of pom pom garlands, so fun and simple! Depending on the colors you choose, they can be used for any time of the year.

What you need:
  • Yarn {I used red, green, and cream to make a Christmasy garland}
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Needle
Pom poms are super easy to make. All you really need is yarn, scissors, and your fingers! First wrap the yarn around your fingers many times. I wanted small pom poms so I only wrapped the yarn around 2 of my fingers about 50-70 times.  If you want larger pom poms wrap the yarn more times around more fingers. If you don't want to use your fingers, you could wrap the yarn around basically anything! I think cardboard would work well.

Carefully remove the yarn from your fingers, keeping the circle intact. Next wrap a piece of yarn tightly around the middle of the circles and tie.

This will result in a bow. Next cut the loops of each side of the bow.

Your pom pom will look pretty terrible at this point. But don't worry, we aren't done. : )

Next create a nice, rounded pom pom by trimming the ends. You may need to trim a lot here.

That's all there is to making a pom pom. See, told you pom pom making is easy! Making the pom pom garland is just as easy.

To make a pom pom garland, thread twine through a large, blunt needle. Then insert the needle through the middle of the pom pom and slide the pom pom down the yarn. You may loose a few strands of yarn from your pom pom, but this is normal. Continue adding pom poms till your garland has reached the desired length. The pom poms stay in place on the twine pretty well so there is no need to tie them.

Thats it! See... easy. : )

Such a pretty and simple way to decorate for Christmas!
