DIY Wooden Art Engagement Gift

A few weeks ago Chris and I went to an engagement party for our friends. I wanted to make something special for the couple. They had already made a wedding website with all their information about how they met and the engagement. I've seen different keepsake date art around Pinterest and I thought something like that would be perfect! Here is what I did:

What you need:
  • Wood
  • Sand paper
  • Stain
  • Cutting machine {I used a Silhouette}
  • Adhesive vinyl

First I took my wood and sanded it till it was smooth.

Next I stained the wood with a dark walnut stain.

After finding the couple's information I created the design with the Silhouette Studio. The piece of wood I used was a 11x14 so I sized the design to fill up most of the wood. The two fonts I used were Lavanderia and Pharmacy.

Since I have a Silhouette Portait my cutting board is only 8 x 12 inch. And since the wood I used was 11x 14 I had to put the design on two pages.

Once my design was finished I cut the words out on white adhesive vinyl and attached the words to the board. The couple haven't yet picked a wedding date so I cut out a random date to judge the placing. Whenever they pick a date I will simply cut out the numbers and attach them to the board.

This was a very easy project and the couple loved it! Ali {the bride to be} actually almost cried when I gave it to her. Those are always the best gifts to me! I may have to make one for Chris and me : )

{I think this would make a great Valentines Day gift, too! ; )}

If you or anyone you know are interested in something like this, I now sell them! Check out my shop. : )
