Tissue Paper Lanterns

Hi all! I'm here to share with you another decoration tutorial from the barbecue party Chris and I hosted a couple weeks ago. Last week I shared the Golden Welcome Wreath that greeted our guests at the door. Today I'm going to share a bit of the interior decorations, the tissue paper lanterns. Here is how I made them:

What you need:

  • Tissue paper
  • Circle punch
  • Balloons
  • Glue stick
  • String
  • Wall adhesive

Start by punching out circles from the tissue paper using a circle punch. Tissue paper is hard to punch out but if you have many layers it works better.

Next blow up a balloon. I made mine smaller, about 5 or six inches across. Attach the tissue paper circles onto the ballon using the glue stick. I started with covering the bottom, then added the circles in rows, over lapping each row. I didn't put any glue on the bottoms of the circles in the rows so they could hang freely.

Finally tie string around the balloons and attach to the ceiling!

I absolutely loved this project. Even though the tissue paper lanterns were small they really had a big impact. All our guest commented on them saying how awesome they are!
