DIY Painted Pillow + Giveaway

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Paint-A-Pillow . All opinions are 100% mine.

Last year my sister moved into an apartment by herself (which for her is a MAJOR thing). So, naturally, I've been helping her with decorating it! Recently I was asked by Paint-A-Pillow to test one of their pillow painting kits. It seemed like a ton of fun and it would be the perfect gift for my sister's apartment. Here is what I did:

What you need:

First I went to Paint-A-Paint.com with my sister where we picked a stencil design that she liked and added the colors she wanted.

I was so excited when the package arrived at my door. Amazingly all you need to paint a pillow came in this box!

The kit came with a stencil frame, stencil, and pillow case with cardboard insert all assembled together.

The stencil frame is so convenient! At the bottom there are slots for the pillow case zipper and the stencil is secured onto the frame with metal tabs.

The kit also included the paint. {Aren't the colors my sister picked out pretty. ; )}

Also included in the kit was a paint roller, roller tray, and a paint brush.

Before I started painting I watched the online how to video Paint-A-Pillow recommend.  And I'm glad I did! It definitely answered all my questions.

After watching the video I began painting. My sister wanted different colors so I used the paint brush instead of the roller.

Here is what it looked like after I painted the whole thing.

Then, the moment of truth, I took the stencil off! And it looked great! There were a few paint bleeds but I think I used too much paint. I just need to work on my technique a bit. : )

I let the pillow case dry for a few hours. Then following the directions on the paint bottle, I heat sealed the paint so my sister can wash it.

I took the cardboard insert out and put the pillow case on the pillow that was provided.

It turned out great! When I sent a photo to my sister she said "I freaking love it!" What's also awesome is that I can wash the stencil and use it again! Unlimited possibilities. : )

Paint-A-Pilow was also generous enough to provide an additional kit as a giveaway to my readers! This kit includes everything needed to paint your own pillow! Good luck everyone. : )
